The transmit signals in an OFDM system can have high peak values in the time domain since many
subcarrier components are added via an IFFT operation. Therefore, OFDM systems are known to have a high Peak-toAverage Power Ratio (PAPR), compared with single-carrier systems. This article presents a novel approach to reduce
the PAPR of the OFDM signals. The proposed method contains a digital FIR filter that its coefficients are adaptively
changed to minimize the PAPR. At the receiver, the modulated symbols can be recovered by a reversed procedure. By
way of computer simulation, using Adaptive Digital Filter (ADF) in OFDM systems is shown to compare favorably to
conventional OFDM.
