The pantograph equation is one of the most important kinds of delay differential equations, and plays an important role in explaining many various phenomena. In this study, a new approach based on Lucas polynomials is introduced for numerical solution of fractional order pantograph differential equation in the Caputo sense. For this purpose, the fractional order derivatives of these polynomials are constructed and employed for approximating the solution of main pantograph equation. Some illustrative examples are provided for showing the accuracy and efficiency of the introduced method.
