In this study, the effect of ion-exchanged zeolite with Cu 2+ and Mn2+ on the total oxidation of toluene was reported. The catalysts were characterized by XRF, BET and TPD analyses. It was found that ion echange resulted in a significant enhancement of toluene conversion due to change in the distribution of the concentration of acid sites of different strength and increased the surface area. Also, the conversion of toluene increases up to 100% in the case of Mn2+ at 350 °C. The effect of ion exchange on the activity of the zeolite samples and the total oxidation of toluene was discussed in terms of acid sites and specific surface area
