Abstract

In the present research, it is tried to explore the performance of the combination of CO2 power cycle with a single-effect chiller. It is a well-known fact that the CO2 entering the gas cooler could have potential to be utilized in bottom cycles. The purpose of proposing combined system is an attempt to capture the waste heat in the gas cooler. The system could produce wide ranges of cooling effect simultaneously. Also exergy analysis is performed in order to display the irreversibility distribution within the system and the contribution of different components to the exergy destruction in the cycle. Results reveal that increasing the generator temperature from 65oC to 105oC results in an increase of the COP and second law efficiency of the cycle by up to 57% and 74%, respectively. In addition, it is found that reduction in the cooling capacity ratio could reduce both the COP and exergy efficiency of the proposed system. Exergy analysis reveals that compressor and ejector have the first and second highest contribution of exergy destruction in the cycle, respectively.
