In this work, a detailed study of thin disk laser with an axicon-based Bessel-Gauss resonator has been carried out and proposed to calculate the output power characteristics. With this formalism, the mode formation for the fundamental mode is analyzed and performance achievable by a thin disk laser for various cavity parameters is determined. Here, special attention is paid to investigate the dependence of the transverse profiles, the phases and the loss of fundamental mode on the geometrical parameters of cavity.
