Abstract

A linear axicon-based thin-disk laser resonator (AXBTDLR) has been introduced, exhibiting a striking similarity to its actual configuration. In this setup, a parameter related to the distance , which is the separation between the axicon and the thin disk, is derived through an analytical method to thoroughly investigate the characteristics of the generated near-ideal Bessel mode (NIBm). Furthermore, ray tracing of the Bessel–Gaussian beam is conducted within the AXBTDLR framework to demonstrate that the Gaussian–Bessel beam serves as its eigenmode. The stability conditions are elaborated in relation to , as well as the radii of curvature (ROCs) of both the thin disk (TD) and the output-coupler mirror (OCM). The results suggest that the parameter establishes favorable conditions for the production of NIBm. Additionally, the intensity distribution of the dominant mode has been determined using the established Fox–Li iteration method, with careful selection of ROCs and . The findings indicate that the resulting intensity profiles align closely with those of the NIBm
