Woven textiles consist of two perpendicular sets of yarn i.e. warps and wefts. Mass irregularities of the yarns are important factor affecting the stress-strain behaviour of the fabric. We produced a typical slub yarn to study the effect of induced mass irregularities of the yarn on the strain monitoring of the fabric during tensile test. Digital Image Correlation (DIC) method was used to evaluate the strain distribution map of the fabric during tensile test. The images of reference sample were captured as well as the images of the strained fabric in sequential applied strain. Appling DIC method the strain distribution map of the fabric in a certain value of applied strain was calculated for all samples. The results of the calculated strain map were then compared to image of actual fabric. The results showed that there is a good agreement between the calculate map of strain distribution by DIC and the locally concentration of strain in fabric near to damage region.
