Abstract

In this chapter, optimal operation of a hybrid AC/DC microgrid (MG) is investigated under uncertainties of power price, load demand, wind speed, and solar irradiation using the sto-chastic programming method. To model mentioned uncertainties using the stochastic pro-gramming method, 10 discrete scenarios are generated. The normal distribution is used to generate scenarios of power price, load demand, and solar irradiation and Weibull distribution is used to generate wind speed scenarios. To reduce total operating cost of the system, time-based demand response programs are implemented in DC sub-grid and incentive-based programs are implemented in the AC sub-grid. The stochastic based energy management problem of hybrid AC-DC MG is formulated as MINLP method and solved in two cases as with and without demand response programs using the DICOPT solver in GAMS optimiza-tion software. The results are provided in different scenarios to help the decision maker to get optimal decision in system management.
