Abstract

Smart buildings are currently experiencing significant growth and advancement primarily for enhancing security measures, optimizing resource utilization, improving residents' well-being, and fostering a future that is both smarter and more environmentally conscious. The integration of smart building technologies aims to establish environments that are more sustainable, efficient, and enjoyable for occupants. By integrating technology, conducting data analyses, and utilizing automation, smart buildings enhance resource utilization, prioritize residents' well-being, and empower data-informed decision-making. This results in reduced costs, heightened operational efficiency, enhanced occupant comfort, and a more environmentally conscious approach to managing buildings. In smart buildings, a variety of sensors are employed to monitor their operations. This discussion will delve into the functionality of these sensors, the types commonly implemented, their interconnections, communication with users, along with a thorough exploration of their benefits and drawbacks. Furthermore, an economic analysis will be conducted to assess their viability and impact.
