In this research, holmium oxide nanopowders were prepared via a new and simple way. To find the optimal conditions for the fabrication of nanopowders, the effect of some preparation factors was examined. The outcomes of this study illustrated that the grain size and shape of holmium oxide nanopowders were largely affected with the evaluated factors. The as-prepared holmium oxide nanopowders were characterized using FT-IR, FESEM, EDS and XRD. The obtained results denoted that with the aid of this new approach can be fabricated the sphere-like holmium oxide nanopowders with appropriate uniformity. Also, the photocatalyst activity of as-formed holmium oxide nanopowders was studied using decomposition of the organic pollution under visible light.
