چکیده

The application of Air-Cooled Condensers (ACC) in thermal power plants has become so normal since a few decades ago. It is because there are so many valuable advantages with the ACC implementation, e.g., little dependency on water consumption and benefiting from the forced convection heat transfer instead of the natural one, which is routine in dry cooling systems, to condense the steam. However, the thermal performance of an ACC can be readily defected by the ambient winds. This research work benefits from the computational fluid dynamics tool and investigates numerically the details of ACC’s thermal performance in such undesirable ambient windy conditions. Furthermore, this work suggests an effective wind screen remedy to increase the heat rate from the proposed ACC. This remedy considers the installation of wind screens below the ACC level. The detail advantages of implementing this remedy are discussed in the results and discussion section.
