Abstract

Optimal sizing of distributed Generation (DG) units in microgrid is a challenging issue for obtaining the best benefit of DG units in microgrid. The optimal size of DGs in microgrid depends on the purpose of design. Voltage stability is an important parameter and plays a significant role in microgrid operation and unfortunately in most of the design methods voltage stability is not considered. According to the uncertainty and stochastic behavior of Renewable Energy Resources, to predict output power of these units, the artificial neural networks method is applied. The multi-objective genetic algorithm method is used in this problem. The objective function is based on pareto front configuration. In this way, for each objective one dimension is assumed and totally covered space is considered as an indicator of the objective function. The advantage of this method is that each objective can be evaluated independently. The total cost, reliability and voltage stability are different objectives which are optimized in this paper. The proposed method is a practical method which considers operating parameters in designing the micro grids with different consumer load profiles. The ultimate aim of this research is to improve the performance of the studied network by adding the renewable energy resources.
