Abstract

Recently, coating by different techniques, mainly in the form of films or particles, have been used to improve filaments or yarns properties in the textile industries. Among them, coating nanofibers made of different biopolymeric materials using electropsinning apparatus is attractive in biotextile fields. The aim of this study is to develop and evaluate a silk fibroin yarn structure that coated with polyhydroxybutyrate electrospun nanofibers. This structure is suitable for fabrication collagenouse scaffolds in tissue engineering when silk yarn provides structural integrity and mechanical properties, while the nanofibrous surface can be used to meet the functional requirements that have been investigated for the first time. Firstly, the parameters in the coating process including solution concentration, electric field, flow rate, coating time and coa ting distance were determined by coating morphology analysis. By analyzing SEM images, the best situations of process and materials parameters of electrospinning were chosen to find the best morphology. By analyzing SEM images, the best situations of process and materials parameters of electrospinning were chosen to find the best morphology. The novel and appropriate structure of silk fibroin coated with polyhydroxybutyrate has a good potential using in biotextile applications like tissue engineering.
