Abstract

Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) is a multicarrier modulation scheme, which is widely used in many wireless communication systems due to its high data rate, high spectral efficiency, and immunity against multipath fading channels. However, an OFDM system suffers from high peak-to- average power ratio (PAPR) of the transmitted signal. This paper focuses on the PAPR reduction of OFDM systems by using symbols interleaving and selective mapping (SLM) techniques. We compare the PAPR reduction performance of these methods. Simulation results indicate that the SLM technique is slightly better than the interleaving approach.
