Sixth Biennial Seminar on Spatial Statistics and Its Applications
Given the rapid expansion of various branches of science and their inherent complexities, there is an increasing need to employ modern statistical and mathematical methods and tools to advance these disciplines. Moreover, the use of up-to-date tools in other scientific fields plays a vital role in making these tools more applicable and in enhancing interdisciplinary collaborations. One of the relatively new and powerful tools is spatial statistics, which examines the correlations of spatial and temporal data. Thanks to this feature, spatial statistics can be applied across a wide range of scientific domains, including earthquake science and engineering, risk management, crisis management, atmospheric sciences and meteorology, water resources, environmental science, geology, mining, urban and regional planning, urban infrastructure, traffic, transportation, remote sensing, health and medicine, epidemiology, social sciences, oil and gas, economics, and insurance. One of the key actions in promoting and presenting the country's scientific achievements is the organization of specialized meetings and seminars. In order to provide a platform for dialogue among experts in various fields related to spatial statistics and its applications, the idea of holding a specialized seminar on spatial statistics and its applications has been pursued. In this regard, the Sixth Biennial Seminar on Spatial Statistics and Its Applications will be held in person on October 29–30, 2025 (7–8 Aban 1404), hosted by the Department of Statistics at Semnan University, in collaboration with the Scientific Pole of Spatial and Spatio-Temporal Data Analysis at Tarbiat Modares University, and the Iranian Statistical Association. The main objectives of this seminar include: providing a suitable opportunity for exchanging ideas among faculty members and researchers, presenting research achievements in the field of spatial statistics, fostering joint collaborations between spatial statistics specialists and practitioners in other fields, and enhancing the academic level of graduate students at universities and higher education institutions.
