Abstract
|
Incorporating functionalized ZnO nanoparticles with amine groups into a thin film nanocomposite (TFN) membrane. Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA)/ZnO-NH2 solution was applied to polycarbonate (PC) membranes using the dip-coating method. In a submerged membrane system operating at vacuum transmembrane pressure(TMP), all manufactured membranes were used to remove humic acid [1]. TFN membranes hydrophilicity and surface roughness increased as a result of the inclusion of nanoparticles. As a consequence, for TFC and TFN with 0.05 wt% of nanoparticles, respectively, rejection of HA increased slightly from 98.3 percent to 99.1 percent and 98.3 percent to 99.3 percent when vacuum TMP raised from 0.3 to 0.6 bar.
