Photocatalysis is a practical process for purifying air, wastewater and drinking water, and one of its main advantages is the ability to mineralize many pollutants. Among the nanoscale arrays of photocatalysts, there is a strong push to develop them as thin films due to their numerous features compared to suspension photocatalysts. In this context, the present review aims to provide an overview of the current knowledge on UV/vis and natural sunlight photocatalysis of pollutants using titanium dioxide nanoparticles (TiO2) in the form of thin films. Various synthesis techniques are used to assemble thin films, which are used as photocatalysts for the decomposition of organic pollutants.
